You’re right, that’s creepy, so let me rephrase. Welcome to my new blog!
If you’ve never heard of me, my name is Steve Jay and I’m a front-end web developer and graphic designer with over 10 years of professional experience. That may seem like I’m an expert in design and development, but I have a confession to make, I suck!
In reality, I’ve been doing this career and barely making it. I feel like I suck and I can’t keep up with the current rate in which technology advances. Right when I feel like I’ve learned something new, I realize I’m a million years behind.
I wanted a place that I could call home. A place where I could share my journey with the world. To show that I’m also human and I’m continually learning. If you plan to dive into web development, or even graphic design, you will quickly realize you will never become a master at your craft. You will always be learning and improving. That’s why I feel this career path is so exciting and rewarding.
With that said, welcome to my home!
My hands are full with new technology. Right now, I’m stuck in the phase of feeling like I’ve plateaued! There are so many languages I want to learn, so many projects I want to create, and so many career paths I want to take. I’m overwhelmed!
Here’s a few things I’ve begun, just this week:
- I’ve switched my primary operating system over from macOS to Linux Ubuntu.
- I decided to completely ditch the redesign of my website in WordPress for this blog in order to teach myself React and Gatsby.
- Started teaching myself Python in order to help with some back-end development and site security.
- Taken up interest in learning a bit of networking - you know how much time research takes on potential new skills!
See, I’m overwhelmed, but I want to do it all! They say to do one thing and stick with it, but that’s just no my personality type. I go against what most people deem normal, almost like I’m a rebel.
Anyway, thanks for stopping by this quick post. I want to get back to learning this React and Gatsby stuff. Look out for some new posts. During this COVID-19 crap, I’ve been wanting to do brain dumps. While the majority of the content here will be development related, or something relating to computer technology, you will often get some personal stuff. That’s just how I am!
