Anti-Theft Car Seat Recognizes Owner

Wouldn’t it be awesome to have a car seat that would recognize a person when they sit in it?  Researchers from the Advanced Institute of Industrial Technology in Tokyo have developed such a seat.  A personalized profile can be generated for the owner/driver of the particular vehicle by using a series of 360 sensors to measure how much pressure people place on the seat.  A vehicle with this technology would help a lot with vehicle thefts.  This system could be acted as an anti-theft device by identifying the car’s owner when they sit down.  If it’s not the car’s owner, the car wouldn’t have the ability to drive out of a driveway.

According to experiments provided by the Advanced Institute of Industrial Technology, the new smart technology was able to identify people with 98% accuracy and the makers hope it will become available within 2-3 years.

If this smart technology came out for a vehicle, would this be something you would purchase if it was a reasonable price?  What do you think about this idea of technology?
