I am no longer a Gizmodo reader!

Yup, as the title says, I am no longer a Gizmodo reader and I completely will live up to saying this.  This post will be a bit harsh but it needs to be put out there because of what Casey Chan (writer on Gizmodo) did to a 15 year-old boy.

I’ll keep the story line short.  Casey Chan made a 15 year-old app developer cry.  If you want to read the full story, feel free.  The fact of the matter is, what Casey Chan did was completely out of order and very unprofessional.  He calls himself a professional app developer so why would he make a potential app developer cry.  Not only did he make this young man cry, he probably killed all the passion he had in the tech world and has no desire to do anything anymore.  Way to go, scum bag.  Yes, if you couldn’t tell, I’m angry.

It’s also pretty ironic that his name is Casey, who didn’t see this one coming?

Anyway, to the young man who was creating an App, I would be glad to do anything in my will power to help you succeed in your ranks and review it.  I want you to live out your dreams and I don’t want some low life blog take you down.

Since Gizmodo’s Casey Chan has done this, I am no longer a daily reader.  I know I’m not the only one in this situation.  There will probably be hundreds of people who will no longer be reading your site.  I will also do everything in my will power to make sure that people don’t read your blog.  I think what you did was completely outrageous and unprofessional.  I highly believe that you need to give this kid a HUGE apology and even a reward.  What that rewards is, I don’t know.  Your company is “smart” so figure out the reward on your own.  I’m not going to baby you with my input.

I really hope Gizmodo reads this because I will not stand for this on the internet.  Especially for someone at such a young age who had a passion for developing.

I will make a stand with you, Gizmodo.  If you would like me to take down this post, you need to send me $500.  If you would like me to take down this post and come back to reading your blog faithfully, you need to send me $1,000.

The longer this post stays up, the more I will try to get people to stop reading your blog.  What you did was wrong and like I have mentioned, I will NOT stand for this.

As of right now, good day to you Gizmodo, hello Mashable!

Update:  To everyone that thinks I am serious about the money thing, grow a pair of balls and bitch off.  Seriously, do you think I was honestly serious about obtaining money from Gizmodo?  Absolutely not!  If I actually did get the money, how do you know that I wouldn’t give it to the boy in hopes to get his spirit back for developing?  It’s called freedom of speech and I can say what I wish at my own will.  Believe it or not, so can you and Casey!  I’m just proving a point and sticking up for what I believe in.  Call me what you will, it’s not making me lose any sleep!

Are some people that bad at recognizing satire…? Obviously he didn’t expect ACTUAL money or to suggest that his individual readership is important enough to warrant it, he’s just expressing what probably a fair few readers are thinking and getting the message across, Casey crossed the line and Giz as a whole did too by letting this happen, it was totally unprofessional and classless, and while this one reader loss may not be a big deal hopefully the slightly substantial loss of readers that may come of Casey’s post will wake Gizmodo up. I agree, I’m done with what they’ve been and become.

Yeah I know, free speech and all that. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m currently penning a blog post detailing how I’m no longer going to read your blog.

I won’t be as dumb as you though to ask (beg) for $1000, I think $100 will be enough.

You’re entitled to your own :)

Now just imagine how much I did when I read your post.

That actually made me laugh. Thank you!

    You call me a hotshot?!

I’m not the one who assumed Gizmodo would care that I no longer will read their website.

I’m not the one who assumed I have enough “pull” to be able to try and extort $1000 out of them (no matter what you planned to use it for).

I’m not the one who wrote “I really hope Gizmodo reads this because I will not stand for this on the internet.” As if you have any pull on what goes on on the Internet.

You’re a guy with a small blog and nothing else, why you assume anyone (let alone Gawker) would care what you have to say makes you the wannabe hotshot, not me.

What gizmodo has done was wrong in many ways. That is not professional journalism. You think I never encountered such a situation before? Have I blogged about it? Hell no! Notice I’ve got no respect to capitalize..

Hey hotshot, read some of my previous replies.

Like I said in a previous reply to another comment, it’s all “freedom of speech.” I can say what I want at will and people can agree and people can disagree. Does this mean that I would keep the money? How do you know that I wasn’t going to find the kid to contact and send him the money to get his passion for developing back? You have no idea what is going on in my mind.

Besides, do I expect to physically get money in exchange for this post, absolutely not. It’s all proving a point in what I believe in and sticking up for fellow tech enthusiasts.

So you rag on Gizmodo for doing what they did then try to extort $1000 out of them? I fail to see how after doing so you can then go on to try and be some sort of moral police (on the Internet of all things).

Now that was immature. Was he wrong for posting that article? Totally. Is he right on what he says there? Hell yeah! I wouldn’t tolerate a load of emails like that guy is sending. Come on… “thought you weren’t receiving them”? That happened with SMS, not email…

What he did is ridiculous. He has the skills to develop an app like Trimit and then he can’t figure out how emailing works? Yeah right.

YOU are being a dick by asking them for money? WTF?! If you even cared about this at all you would ask for the app to get a FAIR review and if any money had to exchange hands then it would go to the kids hands I’m sure. You ask for money for yourself so you won’t do stupid blog posts like this one?

I think Gizmodo should do a post pointing out this post so everyone could laugh at how ridiculous you’re being with all this. The right words to describe you right now are: “extortionist drama queen”

I’m not his father but think about it, if you were his father, you’d be pretty pissed off and rightfully so. It’s freedom of speech and I will stick up for a fellow tech developer at all costs. What Gizmodo did was unprofessional and I’m proving a point.

I’m standing firm with my post and if I lose readers, that’s not my problem. I’m sticking up for someone who has just lost his passion for technology (most likely). I want him to gain it all back and show that he has supports and if I start it, that’s all I want.

Are you the kids dad? Why are you getting butt hurt over it?
