An absolutely, horrible discovery has been made that the white iPhone 4 may be ever so slightly thicker than the black iPhone 4. One guy tells MacRumors that it’s enough of a difference that his white iPhone 4 will NOT fit into his Incase Slider case that is designed for the iPhone 4. Also, the person who shot the photo above claims that it “immediately felt thicker” when he picked up with from his desk. He had the black in one hand and the white in the other.
How and why is this possible?
This is a quote from Phil Schiller who states that it was “challenging” to manufacture:
It’s not as simple as making something white. There’s a lot more that goes into both the material science of it–how it holds up over time…but also in how it all works with the sensors.
A lot of other factors can be taken into this device being slightly “thicker” than the black model. UV protection from the sun, light censor, etc…
What are you thoughts about the White iPhone 4 being thicker? Do you think it’s true or all just hype? Sound your thoughts in the comment section!
Update: Apple news site, BlogdoiPhone reports that the white iPhone is in fact the same thickness as the black version. They post pictures to prove it.
